She completed her graduation in Commerce & Economics from St. Xavier’s College of Mumbai. She has parents as father & mother. And, she has a sister as name is Aditi Khanvilkar. She was married with Himmanshoo A. Malhotra who is an also actor. Both of them were part of Nach Baliye 7 and winner of the show.

Amruta made her debut on Indian Television from show India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj in 2004, where she ended up for 3rd position.
